Hey Everyone,
So the last few months have been incredible. I have been so humbled by the amount of love my debut album “Into the Sky” has been receiving all over the world. My album was listed as one of the top ten albums of 2010 by KCRW DJs Anthony Valadez and Aaron Byrd. It was also a huge hone that Gillies Peterson put my tune “Ancestral Echoes” on his latest Brownswood Bubblers compilation that features many great artists. So many DJs in Japan, UK, Australia, and the States have been playing my music and it is so inspiring to get messages from all over the world from people letting me know how they love my songs. I have started writing the material for my next album and it looks like Carlos Nino will be helping me produce. I will also be writing tunes for many great singers to be featured on for the album. I have learned so much and grown so much with the whole process of making and releasing my debut album and I now feel ready to approach the next one. I will be releasing a new tune and a remix of that tune every month or two leading up to my new album.
Other than promoting my album and getting ready for the next one I have been staying busy with some really fun projects. I have been writing with a lot of great artists lately. Connie Lim and I have a project where we hike somewhere and try to finish a tune before we come back and record it on whatever we have with us (flip cam, etc.). We have written three tunes so far and I am really into what we have come up with. Check out http://www.youtube.com/user/ConnieLimMusic#p/u/11/I1RcvApLiSk to hear one of the tunes and get a glimpse into us writing it.
I also have been writing some great stuff with Jeremy Ruzumna and Amy Kuney. These songs are coming out amazing and if you don’t know Amy she is one of my favorite singers out there right now and I can’t say enough good things about her. Check out this link to here a really amazing tune that Amy wrote: http://www.thesixtyone.com/s/PQUjqUs4RH4/ ( I absolutely love this tune).
Other than Amy and Connie, I am writing with a bunch of great folks like Jaco Caraco, Jahi Sundance and State of Emergency, Charlie Sputnik, and Joey Dosik.
Lastly, I am still the musical director of the Bardot Sessions and it has been a really amazing year of music. I have gotten to work with so many people like Florence and the Machine, Macy Gray, Gavin Degraw, Esthero, Bruno Mars, just to name a few. This gig just keeps getting better and it looks like Jason Scoppa has some big things in store for 2011 so keep your eyes posted for where this night is going. I should also have a few new nights starting up next year, one being a very exclusive after-hours jazz/acoustic music series at a very beautiful home in the hollywood hills so look out for those starting very soon.
Alright, back to work,
hope to see you all soon,
Nick
