Upcoming Feb/March
So 2011 is already off to a great start. Been writing a lot of music and producing a few records of some great singers. In Feb. Ill be starting a new sunday residency at the Tar Pit, two sets starting at 9pm. This group will feature myself, Joey Dosik, Mike Green and Brett Farkas and we will be playing all originals and new arrangements of some classic tunes that we love. Mike, Joey and I used to play together every week at Angel’s and I am really excited to start working with these guys weekly again. It is one of my favorite groups to play with, so much freedom and joy every time we play. Joey and I have been working on a bunch of new music so please come check out the new stuff and enjoy the really great food and drink at the Tar Pit.
I also have some fun gigs coming up in Feb and March at the Blue Whale. On Feb 16th Ill be doing a trio show with Sam Barsh and Gene Coye, and we will feature some special guests. We did a trio gig a few months back when Sam was in town and it was pretty amazing, I cannot wait to hit with these guys again and I’m hoping to record this next gig. On March 9th, Joey Dosik and I will be doing our first duo show. We have been writing a ton of new music (we will be releasing a track we did next month) and we are working out a really fun set with just the two of us using loopers, all kinds of instruments and we’ll both be singing (hopefully him a lot more than me). Joey and I are also planning a European tour this year and will be releasing at least 2 new tracks int eh next few months so look out for way more from the two of us.
Lastly, Ill be at Angel’s in Santa Monica every thursday in Feb. with Jesse Palter. Her music and voice are incredible and each week she’ll have various amazing musicians with her playing all different kinds of stuff from modern jazz to soul to pop. The first week will be Jesse and I as well as Kevin Kanner and Mark Nilan Jr. (GLEE). It also looks like I will be joining Chris Robinson’s (the Black Crowes) band coming up for a bunch of dates around the west coast this year, really excited to see what this project brings.
As always I am doing tons of writing with many artists and I cant wait to release some of the music in the next few months. For now I am have been working a ton with DJ Anthony Valadez and we have done two remixes that I am really proud of recently. One of a local Natives tune and one of Bilal tune, check them out at the links below and I hope you enjoy the music. Look out for many more remixes and new tunes from Anthony and I this year.
